for us ~ Naadir Vorajee

brilliant Minded, little girl
taken from this unfair world.
Gangstrous thief and deadly man,
Left to live, walk and stand...

good she did, Great she saw...
never once, broke she a law.
Men he killed, women he raped,
Boys and girls had he slice-naped...

slept her pale, upon her bed,
waiting to Go from bleeding head...
Bullet shot he... another dead...
Saw only money, did he instead.

twilight fell, over her eyes
and flew her with the butterflies...
One by one, did he his deed
And on and on, his life he'll feed...
Sorrow does this world not hear?
Deafness falls upon it's ear!

Death lies upon this earth,
Why then, does Life give birth?

  1. The times we live in are dire. How could a person with even a shred of humanitarian feeling not ask these questions?

Many thanks for submitting your poem, Naadir. it is always exciting for me to hear from an 'old boy'.

  2. I'm a child of the cold war and Viet Nam. I asked the very same questions and still ask today. It is a mystery but it seems hope is stronger. Thank you for this poem.

  3. Whew. Powerful images here, and rhyme works well for you.
