NaPoWriMo 2020

National Poetry Month takes place in April each year. It was inaugurated by the Academy of American Poets in 1996, and has since become a world-wide phenomenon.

The challenge to write 30 poems in 30 days is a great way to participate in the celebration of poetry. It is a personal goal, which one must set for oneself. Even if the challenge to write a poem a day for a whole month seems unattainable, any poem written on any day is an achievement. Why not try to write 15 poems in 30 days or 10 poems (one every two or three days)?

If you are prepared to set this goal for yourself in 2020, send me an email. I will be happy to post a selection of your poems over the course of April and May.

"Close the door. Write with no one looking over your shoulder. Don't try to figure out what other people want to hear from you; figure out what you have to say. It's the one and only thing you have to offer."
 **Barbara Kingsolver**
