In times of sorrow
When I have given up all
When I wish it were all over
When I see no good in me
Or in the people around me
You give me hope.
When I am at war
Fighting with myself
Fighting all that is right
Fighting against the reality of the truth
My conscience burying its mortification
You give me peace.
When I find no joy in living
Frowning at all the wondrous moments of life
When the most memorable things and characters
Become abhorrent to me
You give me happiness.
And because you do so much for me
You make my pessimism yours
My wars your wars
My woes yours
I offer you my love.

Freedom ~ Naadir Vorajee
Look at that Bird, watch it fly:
Move the earth beneath it as time goes by.
Look at FREEDOM, spread it's wings
Touch your heaven as it sings...
Fly away birdy, take what was yours...
Break those chains as you break our laws!
Glide through the air: Beauty and pride,
Fly up higher from the rock you denied.
SHOW them your Plumage: make them wonder...
why the hell, they did blunder
to put a bullet in your heart
and take away your special part..
SHOW them,
peacemaker... Fly away!
Bring back heaven upon this day!

Three Short Form Poems ~ Malwazi Moholi
*Unknown*
I look at you
Praying to see affection
And affection I don't see
It hurts
To know I don't know
What you feel
Your feelings are unknown
Your glances are familiar, though,
I don't know what to think
So as I slowly walk away
My fingers crossed
For you to stop me
And tell me
You still like me
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
*Truly Divided*
I am divided
Slowly drifting
Between two loves
My typical annoying class friend
Or my first love who hurt me
Love is tough
The fight hurts
The kisses are sweet
With a sting
But shattering...
Nobody understands
I love him
I like him
I need him
I want him
What to do?
I'd rather be hurt
Than do the hurting
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
*Forever and Always My BFF*
The sun
Shining down on her
Dancing, Singing and having fun
My bestfriend
Annoyingly, Beautifully
Loved by me and many more

Two Poems ~ Khethiwe Mlambo
What If
What if your pillow can
collect your dreams and you
can just plug them in and watch?
What if a girl's favourite song
can tell you more about her
than her lips can?
What if the puzzles in
our lives can bring peace?
What if we can piece it
up with the peace and love
and make it the old days?
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Untitled
Out of a land laid waste
to a land untamed,
monster-ridden
to a land built
a ruined rag-tag band -
in his arms tenderly
he carried bravery
the first rule of being king!
Meleza Jali ~ Will You Wait
Every day I sit and wonder
Are you there?
Can you hear me?
I think about the unspoken words
Feelings not expressed
I ask for courage
To accept the things I can’t change
I ask for wisdom
To change the things I can
Every day I sit and wonder
Are you happy?
Are you proud?
Even though it is one day
Further since the last time I saw you
It is one day closer
To the next time I will
But now I know
You are there, you can hear me
You are happy, you are proud
Wait for me, as I wait for you
Now and forever
Jivana Reddy ~ As the Sun Dawns
As the sun dawns
I see your face
It feels like I’m reborn
We fly away to the unknown
I think it’s just a love case
As the sun dawns
A new world we are shown
But, why at such a pace ?
It feels like I’m reborn
Now you are gone
Sadly, I feel this sudden grace
As the sun dawns
Pryaska Goorhoo ~ "Far Above the Milky Way"
Far above the Milky Way People wanted the will to fight, A beam of hope, a little golden ray.
Through dusk and through day, Silent winds blow throughout the night, Far above the Milky Way.
There is no yesterday, tomorrow or today. Violet horizons with that one golden flying kite. A beam of hope, a little golden ray.
A perfection of hopelessness or a very tragic play? I often wonder about the many stars up there shining bright, Far above the Milky Way.
I laughed, I cried, however I still think its cliché. Do you also wonder about some charming, mysterious knight? A beam of hope, a little golden ray?
Throughout this vast world I have searched, day by day. My looking brighter, success within sight. A beam of hope, a little golden ray… Far above the Milky Way…
