You ~ Vuyani Ntshingila

Your golden hair shines,
 Brightly blinding my eyes,
 I guess you could say,
 I’m blinded by love.
Your tongue whispers,
Whispers sweet nothings in my ear,
To a normal person it would make no sense,
But I know exactly what you mean.
Your skin resembles dark chocolate,
Bitter to those who taste hastily,
And attracts those,
Who take time to taste
Your heart though not flawless,
Is filled with good intentions and compassion,
With space to love,
It reminds you of past failures.
You, Oh you cause sleepless nights,
To those who dare think of you,
Oh how I wish I had you.

SILHOUETTE ~ Nkazimulo Mvemve

"She's so perfect, so humble."
I say in my mind as it is the only thing that I thought every time I saw her.

As to why I did not speak about how I felt?
I do not know, with reasoning so parallel to rejection I hesitated in my attempts.
But in fact my motives were not that of a Flirtatious type but one filled with Admiraton.
She was beauteous in every way.

I have no recollection of why failed to acknowledge her presence before.
At first she was just another person that drifted past me, the second time, there was little emotion when I saw her from a distance.
Yet I don't know if the third time was the charm but I saw a different glow, an Aura to put it more correctly.

And I now I can't stop thinking about her, a Silhouette of biblical proportion.
Creepish looks of profound awe, was all I was able to do.
When she sat next to me our conversations were brief personality exchanges, family, and school matter.
I immediately felt ashamed because as a Dude I should have been able to flirt with her.

Physical appearances may not have been of her standard I guess but, confidence has always been an opposing factor when it came to that.
Although in her case she gleamed purity with her every smile, shunning away the best-looking Playboys, giving the littlest attention to comedic attempts from the Best-boy and me the guy who she probably thought was just male figured shadow.

My only attempt at reaching out to her is a poem she'll probably never.
I'm sceptical as to whether my words will ever meet her eyes.
She was not like every other girl, she was uniquely of her her own status, in my veiw standing far higher than the rest, she wasn't the most popular but she peaked at beauty, with no shame towards her ethnicity she wore her crown well.

In a so called Poets attempt my only Flirtatious attempt is this I offer it to every single girl in the world the Silhouettes of perfection and beauty.

The Story of Our Lives ~ Pryaska Goorhoo

Dawn drowns the sorrows of the night.
The flamboyant colour frightens the demons away.
People awaken to fulfil their purposes on earth
The stars get put away and the moon gets taken down.
Blue skies mark the beginning of a new day.
The blue Celeste reminds us of the infinite possibilities we have.
Water sustains our body,
Heaven sustains our soul.
The mind is calmed until
It sees sketches of crimson on the horizon.
The scarlet sky announces the death of the day.
The blood pollutes the azure colour with its ominous shades.
It devours the sky, leaving it empty-
Vast nothingness which becomes
A playground for the demons of the unlit night.
People replay all their memories,
From the sanguine morning to the evening.
They retire,
Only to fight the fiend that night will bring.
People lie quietly with their eyes closed
For the streak of the persimmon colour
That will awaken them once again.

Beautiful World ~ Nash Aniruth

The sound of the hills
Awakens the city below
The ambient cry of an infant
Marking the rebirth of a new day
New beginnings
New hope
New rays radiate through the
Clouds
Bringing with them an aura of
Positivity and life
Which engulfs the city as it lays...
Like a staircase into heaven...
Ascending to the highest points of no return, blocking out the sunshine.
They stand above it all...
Extending their gaze upon the beauty of creation as
The millipedes crawl over the streets below
Their bodies glistening silver in the sun.
Doves taking flight overhead
Leave with them a trail of joy in the atmosphere.
Oh, isn't it beautiful?
The children, inhaling the vapours of this world into their lungs.
The beggar at the traffic light, now absent of dignity.
The man on the street, grey as a cadaver.
Yet they stand above it all...
Taking in the carcinogens to feel numb...
Oh, what a beautiful world it is.

Beautiful Creatures ~ Malwazi Moholi

Beautiful creatures
Roaming the earth
Some blue eyed
Some green eyed
But
Mine is brown eyed
My muse
My reason for writing

Although It may hurt me
I still obsess.
It carries me above the clouds
Knows my most deepest thoughts
It can fly.

My beautiful creature has
Brown, curled hair,
Broad shoulders.
My beautiful creature
Cuddles,
Loves although hides,
Funny...

my Beautiful Creature
Is not Mine.
He Let me Go.
He let me fall to my death
Onto the cracked Earth,

In order to Catch another...

Dancing Angels ~ Sarah Tandy

There is a lightness to them,
The way they sway as if nothing will break their unknown path.
Barely captured, an eyelash of white
Souring through the open freedom…
So light.
Many a face they pass
But not a whisper is heard.
A flash of a life
Purely for the joy of a dance.

Where is Her Beauty? ~ Yashoda Naidoo

The beauty of a woman,
is part of nature's plan,
so a flower in the garden,
is worth two in the hand.

Beauty isn't flawlessness,
nor is it perfection,
it is not a pretty face,
with a light complexion.

Beauty isn't clothes,
not a size 4,
not the colour of your skin,
or the last makeup you wore.

You seek her beauty,
through her eyes,
because that's the doorway to her heart,
the place where love resides.

You need to look deeper,
as her beauty is not a facial mole,
but true beauty is a woman,
is reflected by her soul...

Hand ~ Jadee Mac Donald

In the light of the sun

I see the magnificent creation

And I marvel in its splender

Beauty

I happily sing the creators praise

As I gaze upon the blue heavens

And my heart dance and leap with joy

As the words bubble out of my soul

To be alive and see this wonder for myself

The touch God’s magic hands

You ~ Mohammed Moola

Your beauty overwhelmed me,
Your face so gentle,
Your smile so sweet,
Your voice so soft like heavenly melodies to my lobes.

You bring me sunshine when
I only see rain,
You bring me light
In the darkness of the night,
You take the pain
From my suffering,

How is it that your soul is so warm?
In a world so cold,
How is it that your smile resembles
The stars of the night sky.

Tell me what makes you
who you are,
For with your touch and with your smile
You can fill this hole in my mind,
You are my sunshine,
My shining star,
Everything I'm not, You Are!

Snowflake ~ Verusha Pillay

You are my snowflake.
As you awake
A frozen, fragile, fracture
Entirely unique,
A diamond that will not break,
With satin, smooth, skin
Not feeble or weak,
But, an endless lake
Of wisdom and wistful, wonder
Longing to take a peak.
For you are my strake.
My one and only snowflake.

The Cherry Blossom & Other Poems ~ Caitlin Struwig

The Cherry Blossom

Blush
Gentle Gust
Pink moons
Bless
Twisted
Dark nooks
Curving, sloping trunk
Papery skin
Glistens.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
We pass our dreams,
And take the other road,
But then nothing is right.
We are the ones who choose,
But we never do what's right.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Their melodic hum,
Their sweet sense,
Their eye for beauty,
Is almost gone.
Because here they lie
Below where they used to fly

This poem is a breeze, the snow and death ~ Nsiki Gwala

This poem is a cool breeze.
This poem is the freezing snow.
This poem is peaceful death.
This poem is a deep breath of life-
A cool touch that stirs one's senses.
It's a minute wave treading on the dry earth,
That whispers tales of unknown worlds
Where is had danced on calm waters.
This poem is the cool breeze.
This poem is a vast coat of ice,
That ensnares life in crystal flakes.
Memories lost in mortality
Lie buried beneath its ominous beauty.
Like fallen stars illuminating the earth,
This poem is the freezing snow.
This poem is a man lurking in the shadows-
A memory devouring one's courage,
Like a nightmare dwelling in an innocent mind.
It's a lonely journey to an unknown truth,
In which souls fearfully embark.
This poem is peaceful death.
This poem is the cool, tingling breeze.
This poem is the white, freezing snow.
This poem is the inevitable and peaceful death.

Two Poems by Zinhle

Lord, It's Fine

Lord, it's fine if they don't
see eye to eye with me.
Lord, it's fine if they can
do a way better job than I can.
Lord, it's fine if they undermine
my authorities.
Lord, it's fine if they tease me
about how I look.
Lord, it's fine!
Well, then I remember that You too
were hated by many
yet loved by few.
So it's fine!
Lord, I've learnt that you
give me more power than any
powerade drink.
You give me more knowledge
than any professor
and so the heart seeks
more attention
than what the mind thinks.
So it's fine!
Lord, You are my Redeemer
Lord, You are my Hope
Lord, You are my Faith
Lord, You are my Wisdom
Lord, You are my Shield
Lord, You are my Eternal Life
Therefore, it's fine!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The Day You Cut My Hair
Oh my! How I hated that day
I felt so uneven
I felt so unwanted
I felt so unhelpful
My dearest teacher, Why me?
As I entered the door
you grabbed my hand
you took a pair of scissors
The whole class froze in anticipation
and all the way through my hair you went
Oh my! How I hated that day
'My pretty long hair,' I cried
'Why, why, why, why?' I asked
You never replied
and so I cried my eyes out
in hopes that the whole school
would hear me
Yet you gave me a grin and said,
'Please, Zinhle, just stop it!'
Oh my! How I hated that day!
Yuktha Singh ~ The Scintillating Night Sky
An eternal, shimmering night sky,
Like a stunning damsel dancing,
Glittering under the moonlight.
It’s the scintillating night sky.
The sparkling stars- her twinkling eyes.
They make our night lives brighter,
more livelier.
It’s the dazzling night sky that seems to go beyond our eyes.
The big, bright, beaming ball-
This is the moon way above us all.
It’s a glittering disco globe which dances and prances,
Beneath the scintillating night sky.
Her round, rosy cheeks are as red and perfect as Mars.
Her gorgeous, luscious lips are like the crescent moon.
It’s the entertaining night sky into which we stare
And sometimes even lose ourselves in.
The eternal night sky is like a thick, black blanket
With dazzling diamante scattered on her nightgown.
As for the cherry on the top, her dainty pearls that twinkle so subtly.
This is the eternal, shimmering night sky that goes beyond our imagination.
